Alex Bhathal serves as Chief Executive Officer of RAJ Swim. Founded in 1967, the company has become one of the largest women’s swimwear companies in the United States. Its designs, manufactures and distributes many of the top global brands including Sports Illustrated, Athena, Ella Moss, Vyb, Luxe by Lisa Vogel, Next, Reef, and Splendid through premier retailers around the world and at Swimspot, its retail subsidiary launched in 2009.
RAJ Swim celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2017 and has been honored in the past by the Orange County Business Journal as “Family Business of the Year,” was the inaugural recipient of the Southern California Apparel Awards "Trendsetter of the Year" in 2014 and was the 2016 winner of the Reinventing Award by the Association for Corporate Growth.
Alex, along with his family, is co-owner of Sacramento Basketball Holdings LLC, for which he serves as Executive Director. The firm owns the Sacramento Kings franchise of the National Basketball Association (NBA), Golden 1 Center and is the developer of the Downtown Commons entertainment and sports district in Sacramento.
Prior to joining RAJ Swim, Alex began his career at the Law Offices of Steinberg and Moorad, an esteemed sports agency, and parlayed the experience into a position in the public relations department of the Los Angeles Rams. Asked to help grow and manage his family’s real estate holdings, he joined his father, Raj, to develop commercial and residential projects in Southern California, Nevada and Arizona.
Alex is active in several philanthropic and educational organizations. He is the co-founder and president emeritus of Next @ the Barclay, a philanthropic society of young professionals dedicated to supporting the performing arts. He is a national board member of Gen Next, is a member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO), and is a Corporate Partner of the University of California Irvine. His hobbies include competing in triathlons, travel, art appreciation, and is a Boston Marathon finisher. He lives in Laguna Beach with his wife, Nicole, and son, Marcus. Alex earned his undergraduate degree from University of California Los Angeles and his Master's in Business Administration from the University of Southern California.
Lisa Merage serves as Co-CEO of RAJ Manufacturing LLC (RAJ Swim), one of the largest international companies in the swimwear industry. RAJ Swim designs, manufactures, and sells swimwear under many globally recognized brand names including ATHENA, Next by Athena, Sports Illustrated, Luxe by Lisa Vogel, Basta Surf, Reef, Ella Moss and Splendid. RAJ Swim also owns and operates SwimSpot, an online and in store destination for the modern sun lover, with 9 stores throughout California and Hawaii.
As a graduate of the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business, Lisa joined RAJ Swim, a family business founded by her parents, Marta and Raj Bhathal. She has served in various roles throughout the company during her tenor, and currently oversees the marketing/public relations department, licensing and compliance, operations, as well as the design and merchandising departments. Lisa’s brother, Alex serves as Co-CEO with oversight of sales, production, and long-term finance. RAJ has been honored in the past by the Orange County Business Journal as “Family Business of the Year" and was the inaugural recipient of the Southern California Apparel Awards "Trendsetter of the Year" in 2014.
In 2009, she launched LUXE by Lisa Vogel, an upscale and chic swimwear fit solution for the modern beach sophisticate, currently sold at luxury retailers such as Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, and SwimSpot. LUXE by Lisa Vogel was honored as the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim Presents “Designer of the Year” in 2012.
Lisa has appeared in numerous fashion and business television segments including Orange County Cable Business Journal, Dialogue with Jim Doti, as well as appearances on CBS, E! Entertainment Television, NBC Inside Couture, and the FOX’s Good Day LA. She has participated as a panelist for BUZZ: An Executive Women’s Think Tank, and awarded with the inaugural ‘Rising Leader’ Award at Segerstrom Center’s Arts and Business Leadership Award Dinner. Lisa was a recipient of the 2015 ‘Women in Business’ Award from the Orange County Business Journal and was the Keynote Speaker at the event in 2016.

With a passion for the arts, Lisa has served in the past on the board of directors for the Irvine Barclay Theatre and is currently involved with Segerstrom Center’s as an Angel of the Arts. Lisa is also very active with her children’s school, St. Mary’s, where she serves as a Trustee. She was married recently to husband Richard Merage, and resides in Newport Coast with their five boys.
